Transforming a Dysfunctional Team

Updated: Oct 10, 2022

A corporate executive had an internal team of 10, which was dysfunctional and enjoyed creating conflict. Cliques seemed to be cemented into the foundation and team goals were not unified. One employee was even on a performance improvement plan (PIP) for behavioral issues, and the executive coach that had been brought in at the time had little hope things could improve.

The executive put the team through a full day workshop using the Insights Discovery assessment, and immediately saw a positive impact. The employees learned the color energy model regarding identifying their communication preferences and those of others. Communication walls broke down as the team practiced speaking to their teammates according to each other’s energies.

They were also able to see how their team functioned as a whole and assigned tasks to leverage preferences and strengths. The employee on the PIP turned his behavior around completely after learning how to effectively communicate with his manager and the other employees. Investing in training helped this executive rebuild a better team from the ground up!
