Visa-related Fines for Foreign Employees

Updated: Oct 10, 2022

A large information system corporation brought foreign employees from their Indian subsidiary to the U.S. on a B1 visa for six-month work assignments. Because a B1 visa is a general business visa that can only be used for general business meetings, attending training, or a general conference, the company was fined $34 million by the U.S. Justice Department for visa fraud.

PZI has set up training programs for several of their clients to ensure trainees are brought in legally and the company remains compliant with immigration and taxation regulations.
